PLEASEEEEEEEEEEE can someone help, i have 2 shubunkin gold fish, i check them all throught the day to make sure they are happy and healthy, this morning they were fine so i change there water as i do every week(partial change) but later on this afternoon one of them has got its top lip tucked inside its mouth, i did notice a slight change in its lip about a week ago, but it only looked lop sided if you know what i mean, my fish dont fight , and the water if fine, it has no signs of diesease, like readness round the mout or any cuts , so what could have happened, it has happend in a very short space of time.

There is no fluffy fungus on the mouth of the fish.

Just don't no what's going on what are your water stats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph, add some salt to the tank that might help one tablespoon to 5 gal.

do i need to take the fish out to add the salt, or can i leave them in, i havent added salt before?

Leave them in, what size tank is it and how many fish and which type, has he injured his mouth on a ornament in the tank something like that.

it is a ten gallon tank and i have 2 shubunkin gold fish in it, i am getting a bigger tank for them, i do have orniments in the tank so it could be that, do you think it will heal by it's self ?

Try the salt for now, and yes the tank is not big enough.

i have added the salt and they arent happy by the looks of them, the went darting all over the place to start with now they are just hiding at the bottom of the tank now is that normal?

They will get used to it, take about ten minutes, if still acting weird let me no.

they are starting to settle down now they are swimming round the bottom of the tank now, so now that i have added the salt do i do a partial water change next week as normal?

Just add the right amount of salt back to the amount of water you have removed, please get water tested, or even buy some tests kits, as it is a small tank and with two goldfish in there it soon will become polluted as you need at least a 20 gal with the first goldfish then 10gal for any others, also what ffilter do you use, as I would add another one like a fluval 2.

Did you add aquarium salt or table salt? Table salt contains iodine and I heard that is REALLY bad for fish. :*)

it was table salt i used , was that wrong?????????
they just arent happy at all do you think they will be ok????
