My male betta Vaylee was in our 100 gallon tank, and started to clamp his fins and hide alot. My tank has just gotten over ich, so i continued to treat. After he stayed like that for 5 days, i moved him to an isolation tank (actually a thoroughly cleaned ice cream pail), and threw in some floating plants. He has continued to get worse, almost never moving, not eating, and floats at the top of the tank. I think he is dead about five times a day, but then he takes a breath. I think hes dying, but I dont know what it could be....there are no visible symptoms. There is no swelling, i tried the flashlight trick for velvet......

please help, i dont know what to do!

ps he gets a complete water change once a week and i have beeen using bettafix

I don't really know what's wrong. Did he just start acting this way after you treated the tank for ich? Are you doing 100% water changes now that he's in the bucket? If it's only a gallon you probably need to clean it every other day. Try not to stress him out too much in the process though. I would up the temp and add some salt, and see if he improves at all. Keep checking him for differences on his body, and report back if anything seems abnormal. Goodluck

Oh yeah, I mean to add that too. IMO From what she is describing medicating him may do more harm than good. Sometimes when they are that bad off, I think adding meds stresses them and makes them worse.

I just went through this with a little cream girl. I had no idea what was wrong, only that she was getting sicker and sicker. I wish I knew what to tell you, it is really hard when you don't know what is wrong.

I wish you luck
Sandi
