It's been two weeks now since my Clawed Frog escaped.
The scratch and bite he suffered by my cat have completely healed and he's back to 100%!!

I will be moving him into his very own 10 gallon tank soon!
I will also be making sure his new home is escape proof so he and I dont have to go through this again!

"My "wifes" cat whom I already hate (I know its not her fault) must of scratched the frog!!"

I know its not her fault.
Its totally mine for leaving a space for it to get out.
thanks for the link!!

It looks like my frog has a bite as well, partially through the back leg.
I am not going to be a happy boy if my froggy dies! :-(

Sorry to hear your frogs been hurt, but the cat is only doing what comes naturally, this is quite an informatative site.

hope it helps
That guy's a little on the sarcastic side.
Thanks for the link though, any help is appreciated at this moment.
Anyways, I'll stick with what I'm currently doing and hope for the best.

:/

I hate to say this, but cats have extremely toxic saliva, so I would be very surprised if your frog makes it. :/

I know.
Not only they're saliva, but their claws are full of bacteria as well.
I'm not too optimistic about his recovery.
I spoke to a herp/amphibian expert here where I live and he said the only chance he has is for him to take him, stitch his wounds and give him the best care he needs, care which I cannot give him.
So, tommorow he's coming to pick him up.

:-(

Maybe I'll get another one, but this time I'll ensure theres absolutly NO way for escape.
The worst part is I've had him for nearly 2 years now and had'nt a problem and now, the only problem I encountered is a serious one.

dangit!

I've decided to try and save my frog myself.
With the advice from a local vet I will try and nurse my clawed back to health.
Since the escape and subsequent attack by my cat he's seems to of actually been healing.
I've been treating the tank daily with pima/melafix, another fungus cure, adding salt, cleaning the wound with a diluted peroxide and changing 90% of the water.
The bite he suffered has all but cleared up, the scratch he got is still open but looks alot better then the first day.
I'm feeling a bit more optimistic atm, but not overly confident he will make it through yet as I have no idea what kind of pathogens are running through him internally.
We'll see. :/

If it WAS the cat, I am sorry to say the frog might not make it.

But there is a possibility he cut it squeezing out of the tank. If it was as tight a squeese as you said.

If anything in, on, or around my aquarium did this, it was the cat:
You cant see it, but theres a small bite wound on his right leg.

It "WAS" the cat.
Plain and simple.
No doubt about it.
Why do I get the sense that some people are defending the cat, or think that I'm blaming the cat?

It is my fault the big white boy escaped.

I'm amazed theres as little damage (not that its not that bad, cause it is) considering what I've seen most cats do to other small animals.
Quite frankly, I'm amazed I even found my frog alive and not in the kitty litter box.

It actually does look a whole lot better then it did the day after this happened, and my level of optimism is rising every day, all be it very slightly.

Dont get me wrong folks, I'm prepared for the worst, even expect it.

I have to try, at the very least.

It's been one week since my frog escaped and was bitten and scratched by my cat.
Just wanted to let everyone know that he is alive and seemingly recovering well.
the large scratch on his leg has almost completly healed and the bite is all but gone.
I came home from work today and was totally surprised at how much the cut had healed just since yesterday.
until yesterday it was still quite large and open, today its almost closed!
I will take a pic tommorow (cause I'm going to sleep now), and post it.

Some people say pima/melafix sucks.

I have to disagree.

That is wonderful news! I've been monitoring this thread, and I didn't think the poor fellow was going to make it.

heres a pic.
Qaulity sucks this close.
As you can see, the scratch is nearly healed completly and the bite is pretty much gone.
I cant say enough about pima/melafix.
I've been using it for about a year now, fortunatly very few times, but when I have I've had nothing but positive results.
:D

I think he's still in the scare zone, but we'll see.
He's eating like a pig again though!
