hi there, can anyone help me choose plants for a pond that's been established for about a year and a half now.the thing is it's my next door nieghbours pond, unfortunately he died of a brain tumour last october, and i promised him i would look after it for him.it 's been fine through the winter months, but has no plants in it,just looking for some advice on this matter.i was thinking of going up to my local canal, and getting some reeds, but don't know if this is a good idea, also i live in central scotland,uk,if that makes a difference when it comes to the weather.
regards scott

are there any fish in the pond ?if the answer is yes then dont collect any plants from the wild as they will introduce disease into the pond such as whitespot and all other sorts of nastys ,the type of plants you choose are largley dependant on the size of the pond , i buy mine from

http://www.bromfieldaquatics.co.uk/

hes not too expensive ,my pond is 10x5 @3-4ft deep sloping i have Starwort these are Oxygenating Plants

i have one water lilly and a selection of floating plants 'Water Hyacinth' 'Water Lettuce' and 'Water Soldier' in the small pond im going to add Reed-Mace or bull rushes if you prefer
