My fish have white spot so i got some med today, came home and my neon tetras red stripe had almost gone! so i put in the med and checked after say 5 mins and there red stripe had gone very deep red, whats happening?? :-(

It has been a long time since I have had a white spot break out in one of my tanks but this with your neon tetra as far as I am aware is not permanent although it could be related to stress of some sort, have you tested the water to identify the cause? If you do not have a test kit yourself I would suggest taking a sample of your tanks water to your LFS and have them carry out a test, most will do this free of charge.

I would suggest keep using the white spot treatment as directed and DO NOT be tempted to overdo the treatment just let it takes its course and I am sure your fish will go from  to :D .

You should see improvements within a couple of days, best of luck.

When you came home, were your tank lights off? And then you turned them on and checked 5 minutes later? :dunno:

A neon tetras color fades as it sleeps, and then returns a few minutes after it awakens. Shine a flashlight in your tank a few hours after the lights have been off, and you'll notice they don't have much color.

On the subject of lights, many of the ick medications will work better with the lights off. This is especially true with ones that have malachite green in them. The light breaks down the medication faster than it should be.
