Just checked the temp in my goldy tank and both thermometers (one at either end) are reading 24c. is this a problem for the fish as i cant understand why its so high as the radiators are off, no heater in the tank and my galileo thermometer in my room is reading 20c

In a few months when we hit summer the temp is prob gonna be higher. how can i control this,is there a way? mayber a fan blowing against the tank i dunno

cheers :/

as long as the temperature doesnt fluctuate wildly goldies can take most temperatures really well. goldfish are temperate fish anyway and arent really what are defined as coldwater fish. trout and salmon are coldwater fish.

Of course goldies can take cold water doesnt mean they like it, does it? :S

Goldfish were breed originally from the Crucian carp, which excist in the wild over Europe and the UK. They have to survive ranging conditions from freezing temperatures to relatively warm summers. Over the generations their body has adapted to these environments, which means that this is the best environment for them as they are designed specificly to survive in it. However, at the warmer and colder ends of their survival scale they will not be at their happiest but still able to sruvive, this is why the middle range of 70-75oF (21-24oC) is best.
