Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!! I have a 5.5 gallon tank that I use as a hospital tank or a temporary fish "hotel" if I am working on aother tank. Today I was going to clean it when I saw little things darting around. First I thought that they were mosquito larvae because sometimes I feed my fish live blood worms. But then, I saw those precious little "fishy" eyes, their long slender "fishy" bodies, and how they swam like other fish. HELP! I don't know how they got in there! The only fish that I've had in there were mostly livebearers, but once I had to put my two(now only one :-( ) honey gouramis in there. Could they be honey gouramis fry? I will post pics tommorow when I get my camra working, but now I need help! They are too small to eat Hikari first bites, so what do I feed them? I have no source of Liquifry around here. Should I put them with their supposed "mother" Smalls? What do I do????? Thanks ahead!!!!!!

Depending on the type of livebearer in the tank, I'd say it is almost certain that they are livebearer fry. Many livebearing fish have fry, often. I found that even my smallest molly fry (when I had mollies) could eat the First Bites without much trouble. I never actually saw this happen, but since I had a huge survival rate I can only assume that they got food okay.

I agree that they're probably livebearer fry. When I had livebearer fry, they hid out in the plants and such in the tank and managed to find food okay. From what I remember, they should be big enough to eat the Hikari first bites...I think. Otherwise you could start an infusoria culture and feed them that. Take a piece of lettuce, put it in a jar and set it by the window or some other light. Give it a day or two to grow, then take a syringe and suck up some of the water near the lettuce (should be cloudy) and squirt it in with the fry. They may do fine staying in the tank they're in. They're quick little things and can hide well/easily. You could also separate them out and raise 'em in a fry tank or a little breeder net or something like that.

Good luck and congratulations! :flex:

id'd say they would be livebearer fry, i think you'd notice if your gouramis spawned

I have three day old platy fry that seem to have no problem eating crushed flakes. As a matter of fact, when I fed them this morning I was surprised at how much they ate. They're pretty tough little fish! Congrats on the fry!!!! :kana:

I'va had livebearer fry for a while, and I'm pretty sure that they're not because there are around 200 of them  . They are the tiniest things I have ever seen and to see them I must look carefully. To me they look a lot like betta fry but I don't keep bettas in that tank :dunno: . If they are livebearer fry, they must have been born reeeeeeeeeeeally early  ! Thanks anyways :D !

I just remembered that I had 5 zebra danios in that tank for about a week at one point! I wouldn't have noticed if they spawned because they are egg scatterers! I think that they are baby danios :D ! I'll keep posted!

They probably aren't Gouramis as they build bubble nests and you would have noticed.
