My betta has been fine for the past 5 months in his tank along with 2 albino corys.

Just through seeing her in the cup, i was told he could of flared too much or bit himself over anxiety

Hi, Yes he will have shredded himself probably due to excitement/anxiety as you say, is this a breeding attempt? if so bettas need to be conditioned for a couple of weeks before attempting to breed so they need to be fed live foods, it is not so easy to just introduce a pair and hope they breed unfortunately, do you know what to do with the resulting fry? if it is not for breeding males and females should not be mixed.
