Help!

Hey

I just recently bought two new fish one of them I got told is a molly or a platy. I am pretty sure this is a platy but I am having trouble with finding out which type and also It is acting rather weird and has gained weight over night so i am curious to know if its pregnant...

if anyone can help with both of those things i will be most grateful I will post a pic...

The best that I can tell from your blurry picture is that you seem to have a male molly there. I would really doubt the pregnant part. Let's give this a try with decent pictures of a similar fish. The male has an anal fin, the one next to where he eliminates waste, that is quite thin. Like you can see on this male teddy.

Or on this male platy

A female has a fan shaped, or triangular shaped anal fin like this female teddy.

or like on this female molly.

Ahhh now i feel a little like a proper newbie hahah thanks for your help, what would you suggest is wrong with him? he was relatively thin then just got bigger over night..

I would definitely say its a molly. Hard to tell whether its male or female because the picture is blurry. If its female I would say pregnant, if its a male check out online about dropsy. But oldmans pictures show very well the male part of the fish. Good luck the molly looks beautiful.

I tried to take a few more pics but he/she has gone into hiding now, i checked out dropsy doesnt seem to have sticky out fins or anything... will keep trying to get a pic but i deffo think its got a male fin from what i can see...

Looks over fed to me, try cooking pease then mash it, feed it for few days.
