I am new to this group & new to having fish. I bought a platie about 2 weeks ago and now as of today I have at least 5 that i can see. I have no idea what to do. I have a very small tank (1 gallon) and was going to start out small. What do I need to do? I am going to go buy another tank tomorrow but I dont know what size to get. I have a frog a snail & the momma. Should I seperate them ect? Please help, I dont want them to die. Thanks!!!
P.S. Please e-mail me at JuiceyFruit0101@aol.com

Hello and Welcome to the forum! So you are a new parent. Congratulations... Now let's see, next tank size should be what ever you can afford. You will never regret getting one "too big" as if that is possible... only regret getting one too small. The 20 gal long tanks are a hit - could you try that?
If you have fry and you want them to survive, provide as much cover (hiding places like plants etc, and move them or mama when you can - They make hand on your tank breeder nets that you could move them into until you set up your new tank - they are not that expensive and you can use it in the future for the next batches.
Again, welcome and enjoy your new hobie/family! :)

You can't keep all the fry your fish will ever have they will eat you out of house and home.

Just keep that in mind.

Good luck

A 10 gallon might also be a good size. I think you should put the mama in the new tank and leave the babies in the 1 gallon, that way they won't be eaten.
