I have recently added two apple snails to my goldfish tank but they have not moved an inch in two days! I was assured by the pet store that they were cold water snails, however after reading up, taking them out and putting them in warm water they are very active and eating!
Have i been misled? Are they cold water snails?
I have only had my 2 goldfish for a few weeks and dont want to be buying a tropical tank when my first cost a bomb!
Any advise would be great

hi
the apple snail like calcium rich water and pH: 6.5- 8, preferably above 7.

provide an air space above the water to allow the snail to leave the water to deposit her eggs, the air space should be at least the same height as the size of the shell ,the animal will have to deposit the eggs below the water, where they will drown

apple snails become more active at higher temperatures 18 - 28°C (65-82°F).
below(18°C/65°F) the apple snail enters a dormancy state

no need to buy a tropical tank you could add a heater to you goldie tank you could raise the water temp up a few degress
the ideal temps for goldies is 18-24 °C (64-75 °F) but temps 25 °C (77 °F) can be damaging for goldfish
so a temp around 20-22 °C (68-71.2°F) should be suitable for both goldie and snail
