my oscar fish is acting weird. i will hear i big splash and jump up to see what happened and my big oscar is at the top of the tank laying on its slide likes dead floating. BUt none of my other fish are affected but just now one of my small oscars did the same thing with the big oscar. it first happened like two days ago at like 4 in the morning. the top of my heater was wet everytime. the fish tank has smelled bad since the first time. O, its happened 4 times that i know of. And foam has appeared at the top now so im cleaning it tomarrow.

Please give me some ideas. I don't have much money so i don't want to just go buy a lot of new stuff.

Should i buy a new heater? The glass termo broke the first time so could the stuff in it be bad for the fish. Could it be the plants in the tank?

I would check the water parameters. Just bring a sample in to your LFS and they will test it for free. Also I would do a big water change. What size is your tank?

well i took the heater out and the plants that were flaoting and it hasn't been shocked since because the heater even gave me a little zap, so i guess the heater was shorting.

yes but i think he has more than two oscar's by the sound's of it so was checking everything really
