One of my tanks, the 6 footer has just lost its heater, water is stone cold, well room temperature cold at minute, have tried fixing it, new fuse and everything. All the fish seem fine now they survived a power cut few months back and had no heat for about 6 hours, but this time I have to wait until 2moro afternoon when my lfs. Store opens. Do u think they will be ok for the duration?????

get on ebay and search for lidtings near you and then email and ask to collect now is what i would do

I don't have ebay, have tried all local areas for any heaters but no luck

you dont nee it just go on and search is your best bet

Can't get hold of any in my area, rang up eric who is the owner of my lfs, he's a family friend. He says they should be ok for the duration, he's going to give me a heater tomorrow. I've swapped some of my delicate fish over to another tank, but the big hardy fish will keep put as they're more likely to be ok. Fingers crossed

cover tank with tin foil or a duvet and jam a couple of water bottles against the glass, that will do till morning, switch the house heating on and ramp it up as well.

sounds like a plan, have managed to get one of my electric fires next to it and thats heated it to 24degrees which is better than the 18 it was at, will try ur technique soon too, thanks for ur input

re. water bottles. If you have a bottle, fill it half full of hot water (not too hot or the bottle will melt!) and put it inside the tank. This will act like a hot water bottle.

Hi thanks for everyones input, got the new heater today everything back in order, all the fish survived thank god, surprisingly it didn't really seem to bother them too much but got temperature back upto normal again :)
