i have got a fish tank that has been sitting dorment with water in for 2 years it is a large tank about a meter long, i was just wondering if anyone could offer me any advice in the best way to clean :hyper: it i have heard bleach is good but what kind of bleach?

Hi, if you use bleach then use the cheap THIN stuff and only 10% - 20% to water. (The thick stuff is designed to leave a residue)

Plenty of rinsing after.

Before-hand, use an aquarium safe scourer to remove algae.

If it has been around a while closely inspect all the silicone too.

What is the best way to clean the actual tank its self?, at the moment just removing the water.

If you have mineral deposits then there are threads on TFF about that. One of the last tips I remember about that was that fresh lemon wedges, cut and rubbed directly on the deposits was a good way to work on them.

Vinegar or lemon juice or any similar weak acids will help loosen depsotis on the tank walls. They need to be applied and left a bit to work before you start scrubbing.
