Is it any good and would you recommend buying one?

I have a 120 litre tank....thinking ahead to a bigger tank.

Will it do the job without sucking up my fish/ shrimp??

Depending on how big you're eventually going to go, I'd have a look at the Tetratec externals, either the EX700 or the EX1200. Have a look at zooplus.co.uk for probably the cheapest prices around. You get EVERYTHING with the Tetratecs; media, tubing and spraybar.
