Help!!!!!!!

I got a firemouth Cichlid about 5 days ago, and well, he eats a little bit of the sinking goldfish crumbles, but he wont even come close to the cichlid floating pelets, i don't even think he knows it's there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! he doesn't even come 4-5 inches near the surface!! Please help!!!!!!!!

It could be because it's still new to the tank. Given time I would think it will go to the surface, especially when hungry.

I had a similar problem with mine when I moved them from one tank to another, they would hide when I fed them and only when the food dropped would they eat it, but now when they see me they hang about midway up waiting for the food to hit the surface, and then devour it with gusto.
