did a nitrite water test saturday and it was in the worry zone 0.5mg/l

i did a 25% water change and a light gravel clean

did another test now 8.35 am sunday morning, still in the worry zone 0.5mg/l

if i do another water change 25% or more, what happens with the "good bacteria cycle thing", will i dilute that to much as well as the toxic,s

or can anyone tell me where i am going wrong

Easy -you are trusting the product called "cycle"

This doesn't work - it has been tried repeatedly by lots of people and at best it shortens the cycle time by days. The general concensus is it is a waste of money & IMO it is dangerous because people like yourself, through no fault of yours!, put fish through a lot of unnecessary stress because you thought you were doing the right thing.

You need to be doing daily or twice daily water changes 10-15% as you have some fish that are very intolerant of any nitrite.
Just add declorinator for the amount of water you add. Do you know anyone with a mature, healthy, tank?
A few squeezings from their filter will give your's a boost.
