Hello,

I have 2 Mississippi Mud turtles.

The smaller of the 2 (1 year old I think) keeps getting like a snotty mucus layer around his mouth and today I have just notice that its sounding like hes sneezing.

Hes basking as I speak....... sneezing.

Other than that he appears healthy and he eats and moves around quite freely.

Any one have any ideas what could be wrong and have suggestions for any thing I could do treatment wise.

Thank you in anticipation,

Yours sincerly,

Concerned parent.

A mucusy nose and mouth accompanied by "sneezes" where he's trying to clear it enough to breathe usually indicates some kind of Respiratory infection, this can be caused by a number of things and your best bet would be to waste no time and take him straight to a qualified reptilian vet.

I hope he turns out ok :)

I agree! Mucus and sneezing are definate signs of a respitory infection. You need to get him to a vet for meds. Respitory Infections are something that can be passed to other turtles also. If it is indeed a RI and your turtles are in the same tank you need to separate them ASAP!
Good Luck :)
