Help!

I have two black phantom tetras, one male, one female. couple of days ago i noticed the female one had a tiny hole in her top fin (sorry don't know proper fin names) and then her bottom fin (anal fin?) had a bit missing, looked like it had been cut with scissors.

Now the male one has split fins and the female's have split aswell

All my other fish are fine and my parameters are fine, if it's finrot how could it have happened?

I always do about a 35% water change each week, if not more!

Btw i do know they're a shoaling fish and i am planning on getting two more females at some point but they seem to shoal fine with the neons at the mo, untill the last couple of days that is!

They are one of the nippiest tetras once you bring the number up to 6 then they will all pick at each other and spread the aggression out.

Do you mean they're nipping each other? None of the other fish have been nipped and it looks more like they've spilt rather than been nipped.

Also i thought it was black widow tetras, not phantom that were agressive, they look quite alike though

Yeah, definitely get the shoal number up, but I agree they're not that nippy. Pretty peaceful actually.

The little gourami has my spidey sense tingling. Keep an eye on him....

Do you have a hospital tank to put them in for a few weeks?

yeah sorry, it was the black widows/ skirts i was thinking of, mine are always picking at each other but they leave the other kinds of fish alone. I also have a long finned one which must be the stupidest idea ever, it looks really tatty. I was given them free when my boyfriends brother got rid of his fish.

I noticed the same thing with my 3 black phantoms, split fins. The 2 males were a bit nippy. I added a few more and now there are no problems.

I think my gourami's innocent, if anything he gets bullied by the evil molly!

The male phantom's fins are healed now but the female one doesn't look too happy, i think i'll give the molly back to the lfs coz he's mean and then i've got a bit more space and i'll get 2 female phantoms to try and take the heat off the one i've got
