Fish has red bumps and they're getting worse. Tried treating with API MELAFIX for a few weeks but it hasnt improved. The back of the bottle says to remove carbon filter if possible but I'm not sure which part of the filter that is and how long i can leave it out for. I have a Marina i110 internal filter.

Blood spots from something biting it.
What else is in the tank?
How long have you had the gourami?
How long has it had the red spots?
Maybe post a picture showing the entire tank?

Is the fish eating normally?
Is it rubbing on objects?

There is an angelfish in the tank aswell, just those 2 fish.
We've had both fish for around 8 years and noticed the red spots a few months ago, I dont think they've been there for much longer but cant be 100% sure because I've only recently taken responsibility for looking after the fish.
Its eating normally and not rubbing on anything.

Are you sure its that because its getting worse. The last few days one patch on its tail has gotten a lot bigger. There's also one near its eye

It really looks like Red Spot to my eyes. But habitually it appear more on the body than on the fins.

Red spot disease in fish

Epizootic Ulcerative Syndrome (EUS) This is a fungal disease caused by Aphanomyces invadans. Characterized by red, open sores or ulcers on the skin and fins. Highly contagious, mortal and has no known treatment.

The symptoms can also be caused by bacterial infections. Several bacteria, such as Aeromonas and Pseudomonas, can cause red spots or lesions on fish. Reddish spots, lethargy, loss of appetite, and difficulty breathing are common signs.

Treatment will vary depending on the underlying cause. Without an accurate diagnosis. You can try with a gram-negative or broad spectrum oriented antibiotic.

But It looks bad, in aquaculture the fishes are immediately destroyed at first sign of infection.
