Hi, i am thinking of getting a tropical aquarium kit. I came across a mirabello 30ltr tropical aquarium with a built in light timer on offer at my local aquatics centre at £60.00 ! B). What do you think of these tanks. I especially liked the way the filter and the heater is hidden away. Ive got £120 to spend on getting a whole tank setup, includeing the plants, sand, remidies/chemicals and fish. Oh and how do you clean sand ? Is there a vac you can use ? Or dont you clean sand ? Somany questions, lol. Thanks for your time Dannn ;).

p.s How many uk gallons is a 30ltr tank. -_-

Do you think i should go for sand or gravel ? I think sand looks better, oh and which is easyer to maintaine

Hmm.. I dunno what the size is in Gallons. So I can't tell you what sort of fish you can keep. :(
Also- I've never used that kind of tank either. Someone else will come along with better help. ;)

I've always preferred sand. It looks nicer and plants really seem to grow in it when mixed with soil. (peat).
It is easy to maintain too.

Just make sure you top the peat off with sand if you use it. It can cloud the water.

Emmm I'd add plenty of plants- all kinds, hehe.

My advice is get the biggest tank you can afford; 'cos believe me in a few months you'll be looking to upgrade your tank so you can have more fish.

I bought my Juwel (60litre) for about £70 so I would say that £60 for 30l sounds expensive.

I used to have gravel but I have now moved to sand. This is because my plants seem to do better in sand. If you like planted tanks, go for hoods that can take atleast 2 tubes.

I use a regular gravel vac. The filter is what comes with the Juwel (inbuilt).

Hope this helps.

My dads friend has got a big tank and is giving up the aquatic hobby he has sold most of his fish apart from 1 male dwarf gourami, 1 female dwarf gourami, 1 white cloud moutain minnow and 1 botia lohacata. He said he will give them to me for free :D. The male gourami looks really preety. i was also thinking of getting a few silvertip tetras and maybe a few guppys or platys -_- .

hmmm, i still like the idea of a smaller tank. The tank will go in my room and i dont have too much space in my room .

6.5 gallons.

You could keep the fish your getting, its gonna be tough for the others though. Trust me, its REALLY small.

P.T.

30 L is too small, trust me on this, you'll want a much bigger tank as soon as you set up that small one, It took me 3 weeks to upgrade as i have a 10 G and move to a 33 G, Just got it 2 days ago, got a good deal too it was on sale for $150 canadian dollar :D

Dannn, the smaller the tank the harder it is to maintain water quality. And if you are planning to have guppies & platy's you will need a larger tank very soon .......they give birth to young too readily  :hyper:
