ok i have been reading through this forum for a couple of days in the marine section and i need some help, i have a 140ltr tank that measures 33"L x 14.5"W x 18"D, i kno i need 25kgs of sans for substrate and 15kgs of live rock, what i dont kno is what size equipment i need so could someone please fill in the form below and add anything i may have missed, thanx in advance.

what size skimmer?
what size return pump?
what wattage heater?
what lighting to use?

What are you planning to keep SPS.LPS,Softies fish etc. as these need to be answered so you can tailor your kit to your requirements.

140L FOWLR will be quiet limited I would look at adding enough Light to keep LPS as well

I would look at a couple of T5s guessing you will have to use 39w with a slight over hang
Skimmer wise Deltec all the way so a MCE300
Flow 2 x Koralia 1s or an Vortech MP20 dependant on budget
Heater any 150w - 200w heater I prefer the Rena Smart heaters
1 temp control unit either a TC-10 or an ATC 800

what i meant by the question was what lph would i need?

that is perfect as i have a spare rena smart heater from a decomisioned tropical setup i had
1 temp control unit either a TC-10 or an ATC 800
is the thermostat built into the heater not accurate enough then
also would a 50gpd RO unit suffice as its only a 31gallon tank?

yes a 50GPD unit will do, but you dont get 50GPD, you get a drip, so if your budget allows a 100 would be better, get one with DI resin too.

50GPD a day would be fine I would look at 100GPD if you can afford it as you will most prob only get 60% out of them

i can afford 100gpd but i dont want to make so much water i have nowhere to store it. because at 60$ i would be getting 60GPD so that is twice my tank capacity and im not doing 2 x 100% water changes everyday...lol

does http://www.osmotics.co.uk/ultrapure-4-stage-75-gallon-per-day-reverse-osmosis-system-p-336.html?cPath=46_80 have the DI thing

:hi: to the Salty side. Although the RO unit is plumbed in all the time you dont have it constantly on :good: you only produce the water you want. A 50 is very, very slow to produce water, which is fine if you have hours to let it run! You will also need to 2 ball valves along with the DI unit, sorry, forgot to look at the one you posted, will go take a look now

Seffie x

Yep, that is a good one, has a flush and Di, you just need the ball valves
