Hi im new to these forums :) , i wanted to ask if anybody has experience with porthole catfish , i bought 2 of them from my lfs and since buying them i havent seen them eat anything ,
anybody have tips on getting them to feed?
i have had them around 1 week now , 5ft tank with 2 parrot chiclids , 1 unknow chiclid , 4 tiger barbs , 3 clown loach . 3 corys . 1 red tail shark , 1 brisslenose cat and the 2 portholes ,
no aggresive fish apart from the big parrot , but he only shows who is boss nothing nasty. the portholes look healthy like they are eating but as i said im not sure what they would be eating as the food i give gets polished off within a few mins by the parrots and barbs. i dont want to put loads of food in because of the obvious problems this might cause.

By port hole catfish i presume you are reffering to Dianema longibarbis? They are mainly nocturnal and although they may be active by day will probably not be comfortable feeding with the lights on at first. Try adding a few sinking catfish pellets a hour after you turn the tank lights off.

The two i have are the flagtail dianema urostriatum , i will try what you advised by adding pellets after lights out , thanks for your help.
