Hello,

Thanks for helping. Is there anything complicated about planting new plants in a tank. Can you just use the existing rocks in the bottom of the aquarium to plant them in. Should I have to feed them often if the nitrates get low. What else should I know about placing plants in new aquariums. I have a 36 gallon tank. You can look at what it looks like here. http://adt-web.com/mahoward/fishtank.jpg
All of those plants in there are all made of plastic. Thank you.

Live planted tanks are great....but it could be very costly and is a everyday (5 min. to 1/2 hr )
something to do....cleaning glass, fertilizing, water changes etc.etc. But if this is what you enjoy
their is nothing better then nowing you created it....if you want the bright coloured plants you will
need co2 and proper lighting the right filtration system....lots to know....best for you would be to go into
the planted tank section of this fish board and read all the pinned subjects and you could also go into the DIY section and find ways of you buiding things which could keep your costs lower....at first it does cost a bit but after your set up all it is pure enjoyment....you can get a few live plants from your LFS and clone them
takes a little longer to fill your tank but you have created it have fun check out the planted tank section first hope this steers you right :)

Fertilizer. I thought that live plants just used the existing nitrates in the tank for fertilizer, for co2 I thougt that they just got that from the fish that are in there and for light you use one of those sun bulbs. I was going to replace the fake plants with live plants inorder to keep the nitrates down and also cause they are good for the fish sense they convert co2 to oxygen. But mayby it is more difficult than that. Why is everything more difficult than you originally think it will be. Thank you for the help.
