Help With Pacu

If any of you visit the tropical emergency section, you already know, but since I havent had a response concerning the fish, Ill repost it here. Sakura, who is the person this account belongs to, was stung by something in her marine tank and is in the hospital. Ive been talked through almost all the issues Ive had, but yesterday she got in a shipment of fish....among them are red bellied pacus. I have NO CLUE about fish, and I dont know what to do with them, if they have any special needs.

Right now they are in a tank about 3ft long, with nothing in the tank but a bubble thing and a filter. I just took the pleco I had put in there that came with the shipment out and moved it to another tank, so they are all alone. (there are 4 of them)

I put them in that tank because the other ppl in the emergency section said that tank was cycled, and its empty. So in they went. Is there any special needs they have? Please keep in mind that I have no knowledge of any of her fish, so something that is common sense should still be pointed out!

I wouldn't have thought pacu have special needs, except a MASSIVE tank, especially for 4 of them. Hopefully the owner will be out of hospital and fine well in time for that though. They will pretty much eat anything, feed them lots of veg also. They are also messy fish, so keep up with water changes (if you know how to do them, if not I would look into it). If you're looking after a marine tank then I should think you can handle Pacu's.

This might do better in the oddball (or the cyprinids, characins and Atherinids section - pacu being characins) section as pacu's arn't generally regarded as predators.

I'm not sure but i think i heard somewhere that pacu's like vegetable matter - give them some boiled lettuce or something like that and see if they go for it.
