Hello,

I have a 20L tank, 11W fluorescent lamp, DIY CO2, Seachem Flourite as substrate. I also have as fertilizers Seachem Flourish, Seachem Flourish Iron,Seachem Flourish Nitrogen, Seachem Flourish Phosphorus, Seachem Flourish Potassium and Seachem Flourish Excel.

My intentions are to make a healthy green tank with the main plant to be a carpet like plant like glosso or a hair grass or riccia or whatever.

1. Do you think 11W are enough for such plants? 2. If I stick with the 11W should I dose the above and use the DIY CO2?
3. Except from trace ements do you think I am missing anything?
4. Do you have any suggestions on how to aquascape this tank with the rescources that I have?
5. Do you have any suggestions on how to aquascape this tank with rescources that I don't have and what else will I need?

Thanks.

i didn't get you much on the resourcing thing but nano tanks are the same with normal tanks ! :) except that its a bit harder to balance :)

11 W over 5 gallons isn't really that much for a nano tank :) i think with smaller tanks 8WPG would be ideal if youd like to use carpetng plants like glosso :) (i have 23 watts over my 2 gallon nano)

if you will only use minimal lighting then c02 would not be that important (unless it becomes an inhibiting factor) and fertlizers are needed every now and then only :)

here is a link to my nano tank feel free to ask me questions about it

*ps are you sponsored by seachem or something ? :) :kana:

I agree with Kenneth. You'll need at least 30 to 40W of decent fluorescent with reflectors to stand a good chance of success with most carpeting plants in your size tank.

CO2 isn't required with the 11W but will help. However you'll have difficulty growing a carpet with ease with that little light.

Sounds like you already have your ferts sorted although most of them will be unecessary if you stick to the 11W.
