Well I got an ADF a last week, and after putting him in the tank I didnt see him all weekend. During the week I get up at 6:30am to turn the tank on for the fishes 7am feeding (before i go to work), and so far this week 6:30am is the only time i have seen this froggy, and each time he was hanging out in the same spot. but as soon as the lights turn on he runs off somewhere and by the time i've drank my coffee and head back over to feed the fish at 7 hes long gone, and so far i've never seen him eat. also i can never find him in the day time, is this normal? from other pplz posts i gather that they see their ADF's all the time. -_- oh yeah my 3 ghost shrimp are pulling the same stunt, i've seen less and less of them all week, and didnt see them at all today  help!! i need info!!! thnx ~dEx :*

I believe ADF's are nocturnal, if so, it sounds like the aquarium light is scaring him off. If you're not sure he's eating try feeding him at night with some sinking shrimp pellets or some other type of sinking food.

Hi poindexter :)

What size tank is your frog in and what fish do you keep with it?

These little guys are fragile and I find they do best in a small tank of their own. If you are worried about them, consider that option.

Since many people seem to be looking for information about their frogs, I've put a link in my signature to a recent thread about them. Perhaps it will help you. If you have any more questions, after looking at it, just ask.

Hey! thanks for the link, i'm luvin it. whoops there are three tiger barbs in the 20 gal with the froggy, maybe they are scaring it during the day? so it hides? ok so heres whats in with the frog: 1 lyre tail molly, 1 boy guppy, 3 boy endlers, 3 green tiger barbs, 1 pygmy cory, 3 ghost shrimp. the 20 gal has plants and ornaments (one big thing from pet store, a little bought one, and a little inukshuk that i made from stones out of the river). and i tried feeding him freeze dried blood worms but they just wouldnt sink (not to mention he was nowhere to be seen when i was doing this :*) ), but i always put down half a sinking spirulina wafer every day or every other day, so do u think he might eat some of that? the other fish love it. anyways....hmmmm ~dEx :*

Hi poindexter. :)

It could be the barbs that are frightening you little frog. Or, perhaps the mollie.

If you look at the little frogs hands and compare them to your fishes' mouths you might see where they would be scared.

Let me suggest that you consider setting up a special tank for them. You really should have more than that one pygmy cory, since they are schooling fish, and they would be safe with the frog. Maybe the shrimp, too, but I'm not 100% sure of that. It would be a beautiful thing with everything small and delicate.

I feed my dwarf frogs HBH Frog and Tadpole Bites which is a very tiny sinking food made just for them. If you can find it, it's worth a try.

well it just so happens that after christmas the endlers, shrimp, cory and frog are all going into my newly cycled 10 gal....or perhaps sooner as its all cycled and ready to go (finally...phew!), so i think i might get some more pygmy corys then, cuz i soooo love them, they are so cute. so thanks again for all this info, i will get Grenouille (thats the frogs name) that food asap! ~dEx :*

From my own experiences I would have to agree with some of the others who posted about a special tank for the frogs. Like with everything it seems to depend a lot on the personality of your frog, but my own never did well with fast moving and/or agressive fish. They are not the greatest of hunters so they always seemed to have a tough time competing for food. All of my fish always enjoyed bloodworms and my danios, while they did not harass the frogs, never let a single sinking pellet touch the bottom. For a week I tried all sorts of things to get food to the frogs, but not once did I actually see them eat. At the end of the week, I gave them to my girlfriend. One enjoys eating bloodworms floating on the top while the other is more partial to the sinking pellets on the bottom. But both eat hardily and for the most part do not seem to hide during any time of the day.

They sure are fun little things to keep though, stick with it. If I had the room to keep those frogs seperate I would have.

Hi jazzx101 :)

It takes very little room to keep ADFs. I keep my two in a gallon jar. All they need is a little gravel and a cave, which I made with two stones on the bottom and a flat stone across them. The jar lid makes sure they don't jump out.

Every so often I take them out and clean the whole thing, just like you would do with a betta.

They seem very happy in there. :)

i didnt think mine were eating... but i did a closer check when i did the bloodworms tonight... he had secreted himself under the filter with a clump of defrosted bloodworms... the other one is hideing under the bogwood with my pl*co and a sinking alge thing....

Dawn xx

i'm starting to think that i might put my lil dwarf froggy in with my female betta. she is very friendly and i bet she'd like the company. :D

Hi poindexter :)

That sounds like a good idea!

Please let me know how it works out. :D It sounds like a great combination since they both have the same requirements.
