Hi everyone, my dwarf gourami has been alone in my tank for about 4 months, it is a 15 gallon tropical tank with plants. The reason he is alone is: I had some neon tetras and guppies, a couple died so I added two more guppies and 6 more neons (only 1 neon died but I wanted more) and that same day I got a dwarf gourami and called him Nigel. Nigel seemed timid at first and he hid away from the other fish so we thought he wasn't going to be aggressive. But every night when the lights went out, I think nigel killed some fish, at least one fish was dead every morning after we had got him, I knew it wasn't a coincendence. I researched more about dwarf gouramis and many people thought they were very aggressive. I knew I had made a big mistake. I did not have any proof that he killed any fish, but I knew it had to be him.

Well, that was kind of like a horror story! So what do you think I should do???  I know it is a long post, but please look at it all if you are going to reply because it all counts.

Hope you can help and thanks in advance!

Please post your water stats so we can have a look at them, Failing that. Water changes more often than not might clear up the water a fair bit.

What do you think I should do with my dwarf gourami? Keep him and get another tank or get rid of him?

ive not know dwarf groumis to be aggressive i am not convinced it was him killing the fish, what did the dead fish look like, as from my experience if a fish kills another fish it usually ends up eating it and they leave no trace

again with techen i would post some water stats maybe something else is the problem?

For sure your Dwarf isn't the problem. Especially at night this isn't problem. Males can be agressive when kept to hot and having a bubblenest. Even then they are no killers !!!! The problem are of another kind, due to bad waterconditions or a bacteria. Though this I think this fish isn't a fish for a newbe and should have a cooler heavily planted tank of it's own (and a compagnion).
But that's my meaning !!!
