help with my bio wheel

i just did my ten gallon over to sand but the bio wheel filter sucked up sand and keeps stopping, should i just clean it or do something else because the spout is not un extendable like an aquaclear. thanx

how much sand do you have at the bottom of your tank and which biowheel are you using. I had my 125 on a 10 with sand and currently on a 33 gal (as a seconardy filter) with sand with any sand begin sucked up. Perhapes lower the level of sand to about an 1 deep and you should be fine if it's a standard 10gal also try decrease the areation in the tank to that the sand wont be kicked up so easily.
