I bought a bunch of fish stuff from someone who was shutting down a 125g aquarium. He had a good chunk of live rock. Well, I am going to make it a fresh water aquarium. I thought I could just clean the rocks and put them in the fresh water but I am being told not to for various reasons. So... I need to sell my live rock so I can go by regular rocks. I am clueless to what this stuff is worth. Someone in the fresh water forum here told me to post it here.

The rocks have been out of the aquarium for a week now. For reference, the big pieces are 12" long. Here are 3 photos. Anyone know what I could sell these for? I am not looking to get rich but I do not want to unload them for so little that I get taken...

Whew, well that was fun...

95 pounds. The guy I bought it off of said it was 100 pounds worth, close enough...

haha, now people will know how much they are buying :good:

if they buy it all a once :p

95lbs = 43KG??

43 KG of live rock has a retail value (in the UK at least) of about £350. Unfortunately, because the rock has now been out of water for over a week, the bacteria inside them will be dead, along with anything else that was living in them. The rock is now worth no more than 43kg of base rock, which is worth about £30.

Sorry to say, that you have basically reduced the value of your purchase to about 1/10th of its retail value. :X

ouch, i was just gunna say its worth about £350 according to this site...... :crazy:

currently its about $60 bucks with the exchange rates, so that might not be a true reflection of the price. Probably better off asking someone state side how much 43kg of base rock is worth.
