Help With Filter Please!

i have recently bought a tank and it came with the penn plax air tech filter thing and a filter refill but i am not sure how to use it. it came with the air pump thing and some other parts. i would like it if you could post some pictures of it in use or a description of how to assemble it!?!?!?
i am confused and advice would be grateful.

I think that is an air pump rather than a filter in which case do not place this in the water, it must remain dry outside you tank, the air line which is a plastic see through hose should be plugged to the outlet hole on the pump and placed in the water only, when plugged in the pump will then draw air from the room and bubble it back into the tank water through the line, this only adds oxygen to the tank and does not filter it, if you could take a pic of some of the other bits you have I will be able to advise you what they are and what to do
