Help with dosage appreciated...

Hello,

I need your help with the dosing of a med...I think. Sorry if I have put this in the wrong section but I need the help of anyone who as used it.

I have Waterlife Sterazin medication and I need to use it for my 320l. I have tried to use it before but the dosage confuses the hell out of me.

It says that it's 1ml for every 10 gallons (UK I presume, as it's made in England) but if there is not an undergravel filter being used, to half that dosage, making it 1 mm for 20galls.

So, I have a 320l/70UK tank without an undergravel filter. If 1ml was for 10galls (with a UGF) and the tank's 70 making the dosage 7ml. But as I don't have an UGF it's 3.5ml.

How the hell can the dosage be 3.5mm in that big a tank?! How can it work for people with small tanks? How could I ever use it in my 40l, for example?!!

I am confused! Is this right? Does anyone else use it? I thought about contacting the manufacturer but it would take forever.

Any help appreciated.

All waterlife treatments have the dosage ammounts in litres written on the back of the bottle in the right hand column, i believe the dosage for sterazin is 21 ml for 320 litres if you are using the 60 ml bottles, but if you have the new larger size bottles then the dosage is less since the treatment is stronger (now thats confused you hasnt it )

Where it says about half dosage for tanks with undergravel filters it also includes internal and external power filtration, which your tank will have unless you are using air driven sponge filters so you will need to use the full dosage.

Hmmmmmm

I have the big bottle, 500mls. I was just worried about how I'd use it in my smaller tanks, but it will be easier now I do not have to half the dosage. I have external filters mostly.

The treatment is weird, I can't get to grips with the measuring thingy either. I think it should have been empty when I got it but it wasn't, meaning I can't use the device. Or, I could just be a bit dim...

Hmmm, my Sterazin comes with a little cup thingy, according to the instructions, its 1ml for 15 litres, 5ml for 75ml. Since you dont have a UGF, thats the dose to use.

Sterazin is a potent treatment, I would be catious with the dosing. Work up to the full dose from 3/4 dose over the course of the treatment. Do you have the pond sterazin by any chance?

Hey,

It has discus on the front of it and says it for aquaria. Mine intructs to 10ml treats 100 gallons, but "where undergravel filters are not in use, reduce the above dosage bu half, i.e. 5 mililitres treats 100 gallons (454 litres)".

It doesn't say about other filters like internal and external but CFC said that the UGF rule includes those and also that the bigger bottles are stronger.

I would be using either 7ml (with UGF) or 3.5ml without.

I continue to be confused...
