Help With Diy Live Rock Please ?

Apologies as a newbie to forums (but not to fish keeping) if I'm posting in the wrong place !
Can anyone help with information on DIY Live Rock ?

garf.org has a couple tutorials how to do it. The quick rundown:

1 part cement
4-5 parts aragonite sand and/or crushed coral and/or crushed shells

add just enough water to make it the consistency of oatmeal
let stand for 24-48hours
cure it for 3-5 weeks in a toilet cistern or a bucket of freshwater to remove all the high alkalinity (fresh cement will leech enough alk into the water to raise your pH up over 11).
