Help With Diamondback

i recently picked up a second hand Diamondback outlook mountain bike. its in fair nick. however the routing of the front derailer cable is a mastery to me. i can see where it has to go, but i see no way of keeping it in line. i have trawled the net and found no pictures or indeed anything that may help me. so if any of you out their have one, i could do with some help. i have found out that the cable and its routing is some cause for concern amongst owners. as they state the cable tends to stretch and chafe.
