Hi
Have a problem...........we were uploading photos from our canon EOS1000 camera to the laptop when the laptop through a hissy fit and switched off, it does this periodically. We fired it back up but the camera utility program will now not open? The message that appears is- "EOS utility has encountered a problem and needs to close".
We have uninstalled and reinstalled the camera drivers but the problem remains.
Anyone got any idea of what we can do?

Thanks

I assume you are running Windows XP or Vista. If so you should be able to do a system restore and go back to the day before the incident happened. That should fix the problem. If not then format and reinstall the Windows operating system.

Bin it and buy a Nikon ;)

But on a more helpful note, does the camera show up in My Computer? I suspect the program you are using to download your pictures is corrupt and not the drivers themselves.

Have you tried a fresh install of the utility software?

Well we've finally solved the problem. We've downloaded the latest EOS Utility updater from the canon website and now it's running fine!!!

Thanks for your input guys :good:
