Help with Betta

Howdy,
My daughter has a Betta in a 3 us gal tank. It has a fish bowl undergrave filter. No heater. But has a hood w/light. The temp. has droped to 36 outside. My 10 gal has droped from 82 to 75. Will get house heat up and running today as living in NV, USA it is eather HOT or COLD. My question is does the Betta need a Heater or is hood light enought I will be returning to LFS today and don't trust PetCo.

If you run your (house) heater regularly and you keep the tank away from a drafty spot it will be fine without a heater. I live in Texas and I know what you mean about hot or cold and no in between.
