Help With A Schizophrenic Common Plec!

Hi. I did post this once before but not sure it went through as I can't find the thread.

I have a common plec who is now 7 inches long from nose to tip of tail. He has started thrashing about when I try to clean the tank. The other week he jumped straight out!!

Does anyone have any advice on how I can safely get into the tank without distressing him? My tank is 31in long, 16 in deep and 14in wide.

has he got a cave where he can hide away when he feels threatend? they are a bit mental in general tho, mine runs like lightening up the side of the tank, scares the living daylights out of me, dunno what id do if he jumped out,guess id have to pour water on him till a man arrived

I think I'm gonna have to rehome him The general consensus is that he's outgrown my tank and I can't afford a bigger one right now.

When he last jumped out I was lucky that I had a clean cloth to hand and was able to pick him up and put him back. I'd have been waiting all day for a man to come help! lol

aww thats a shame but the right desicion if hes too big for the tank, maybe you could ask the fish shop if you could trade him for something more suitable , maybe a bristlenose plec? or a few smaller fish ( dependant on tank size of course)
