im tired of the little 29 gallon biocube and wanna upgrade to a 40 gallon breeder tank. deciding on 2 protein skimmers not sure which to get asm mini g protein skimmer or the asm g1 protein skimmer. mini g is 130 bucks while the other is like 200, does anyone on this forum know if the mini g does a good job skimming or if it is not worth the 130 bucks and i should just go with the 200 dollar asm g1? feedback would be appreciated.

i dont think i want to breed anything i just think a 40 gallon breeder tank is a nice sized tank and just dont know which protein skimmer i should get im trying to find out if the asm mini g works at all.

Dude go straight for a 75g or more you will be happy that you did a 40g doesn't allow you acces to my favs. eels and tangs and you will be happy even if you dont like those fish but go for a bigger tank so you dont have to keep upgrading.

i did want a 75g but i dont have enough room sadly in my room for it so a 40 gallon will do fine. ive also been reading online i dont mind bristle worms to much but i would like to cut back for the new tank if i dunk some of my rocks in cold or really hot freshwater for a day or 2 will it kill all the bristle worms or any of the ugly centipede things in the rock i know itll kill copepods but im not to worried as i can always re sead it for copepods but will it kill the bristle worms or no?

What are the dimensions of the tank? We may be able to look at all aspects here instead of over several different threads. What is going to become of the 29g biocube? If it is empty maybe a sump/refugium??

Regards

Well a 40 breeder is 36x18x16 (LxWxH) I think... This tank is usually limited in fish stocking, but great for aquascaping and corals.

As for the skimmers in question, will you be employing a sump or not?

yes i will, my friend has a okay amount of fish in his 40 gallon it seems no matter what your limited i dont want any crazy fish like tangs or anything...and yes im going with a precision marine bubbles reseviour is what its called.

i will be selling the biocube or i might keep it as a frag tank for ricordias maybe

Crazy fish like tangs(gets up walks away and cries, then sees his prize fish gold-rimmed tang and becomes happy again)
