Hi this is my first post here so someone please tell me if im doing this wrong,

I have kept goldfish for years and unfortunatly with for seemingly no reason at all i had a serious drop in KH levels leading to my 4 beloved goldfish to die. I have had the tank still running and all the levels are back up to normal with the remaining 10 white clouds all still looking rather happy, I have been told that the white clouds would also be okay in a warmer tank and am thinking abount venturing into the land of tropical fish however as it is new to me im looking for any tips really.

Im thinking i would like a comunity tank, my sister has dwarf gourami's and guppys so as that is all i know that would be my starting point however i really dont know how many i would be able to fit or if there are any other beginer freindly fish that would fit in with those two. Side note i would probably only get male guppys as i dont belive i am quilified to breed them

Thanks for any and all help it is greatly appriciated. :)

The thread title is for 100l so would assume that. Just to clarify what fish are going into this tank? Just the white cloud minnows or are the guppies and dwarf gouramis going in as well? Is your a gourami a “dwarf gourami” or is it one of the many other types of gouramis like the honey, pearl… If unsure you can send a photo of it and we can identify it :)

Yes it is a 100L tank, there are currently 10 white cloud minnows in there and nothing else and wondering what i can put in there with them the dwarf gouramis and guppies are my sisters so would be staying with her was just thinking about if they would be a good fit i with the minnows.

Thanks

I wouldn’t recommend dwarf gouramis with white cloud minnows but might work it depends which one you are looking at. Do you know your water parameters? What’s your tank dimensions?

The white cloud minnows are already in there so will have to go with what works best for them.
My tanks is 72cm long, 26cm wide and 38cm deep. my paramaters are just at what i know to keep them at for gold fish so my GH is 120, KH 140, PH 6.5-7, nitrite 0, nitrate 20.

From what it’s seems you have water parameters that are in the middle so good for community tank. Do you have any specific fish you want to add?(cories, cicilid…)

GH 120 and pH 6.5 is a little low for guppies. Consider 10+ neon tetra. In a planted tank the colour contrast is lovely. Make sure you only select from a tank of healthy store/tank and quarantine new fish.

Large frequent water changes (50% weekly) will keep the parameters stable and lower nitrates.

Thanks again for all the help, I am really unsure as to what i want as i dont know what i can have or much at all about tropical fish

If you are unsure just have a browse at your LFS and see what you like. Your LFS might have a website of what they stock and you could look at what you like. You have quite a few options but I agree with naughts that your water is to soft for livebearers.:)
