Help! White Spot

I bought a lyretail molly yesterday which looked fine now i think he has whitespot. What do you think?

Can't really see from that photo, especially since mollies have a tendency to have white bits anyway, as part of their colouring.

Whitespot looks like little grains of salt stuck on top of the scales of the fish. If that's what you've got (or more accurately, your fish), then nip out to your retailer of choice and get some treatment. I recommend Protozin by Waterlife, follow the instructions to the letter, it will be sorted. In particular, it tells you to treat even though the spots have gone. Ensure you do this, it is vital, otherwise the whitespot will return.

Thanks for the reply, he was completely black yesterday and now he does seem to have about a dozen white spots only on his left side of the body though, the other side of his body is fine no spots at all. What brand do you recommend?

you do get white spots/patches, on a molly, quite naturally. so its not always ICH.

need a better photo to tell though. I only mention it as i had a similar experience with a molly many years ago.
