Please help me someone.. I have my fish in a 55 gallon tank and sometimes they are fine, but other times, they swim like they are dying and turning white.. I have been treating for ICH, and even put Fungus Eliminator in there.. THey were fine for a while, and when i just got home for work, 2 mollies are lying on the gravel and when they try to swim, they just float or something..

another words, sometimes theyre happy as anything, and then the next minute, they're dying??

My PH level is 6.0 (IT will not come up for anything.. PH INcreaser is not working!)

It has a low level of ammonia.. Temperature is 78-80 degrees all the time!

I'm completely stumped.. and I don't wanna lose anymore fish!

HELP! :dunno:

Change your water like 30 - 40 %. You don't want ammonia, just a little is too much. What are the other params like nitrite and nitrate? How many fish do you have in this tank and what kind? How are you treating for ich? What kind of filter do you have. Lots of questions I know but that helps us to know what is going on

the nitrite or whatever is 0.3 and the test said that was fine...
i HAVE
-2 clown loaches
-3 cory catfish
-6 danios
-3 male guppies (NOW 1)
-4 or 5 female guppies (1 just died)
-5 black mollies (2 died, other about to)
-3 gold mollies
-2 balloon mollies
-3 guppy babies
-4 White Hi Fin White Skirt Tetras (they still act the same, nothing wrong)

most of them are just laying on the gravel dying..
the quickcure ICH medicine once a day... i have 2 of the Whisper 30-60 gallon filters..
thx

Personally I would stop with any PH increaser. A stable ph is the best for them. Ph Increader and Decreaser In My opinion just makes it worse on them, as it jumps it quickly in either direction. I used to use the ph Increaser as I also have low ph in my tanks, and would constantly lose fish. Since I have stopped using it, they have been alot better.

now i've looked really close at my guppies, and their fins are turning white and their eyeball has a white dot in it.. i feel so bad and i can't do anything to help them.. i just cleaned my filter out... put brand new filters in them..

:(

Did you put the new filter in before this started happening? If so you would have removed a lot the bacteria that break down ammonia, this often causes deaths in a tank. I've found straight tea-tree oil at about 2 drops per 12 gallon is really good for fungus and ICH. HTH :)

IF YOU WANT TO RAISE YOUR PH THEN DO IT SLOWLY ADD SOME BAKING SODA THIS WILL INCREASE THE PH THE QUICK CURE ICH MEDICINE IS WHAT IS THE MATTER WITH YOUR FISH ALONG WITH THE PH STUFF THAT YOU HAVE BEEN ADDING THIS STUFF RAISES THE PH ALL AT ONCE THAT IS THE REASON WHY YOU ARE SEEING COLOR CHANGES IN YOUR FISH. lovemyoscar is right just raise the temp. to 85 degrees and it will cure your ich. if they are any nitrites at all in your water readings it is to much you need to change your water out daily until you get 0 readings on both ammonia and nitrites and keep adding the baking soda when you change your water this will keep the ph up where it should be.

I posted before reading this.

my fish are also turning white... just the bottom feeders though and I've only noticed it once. No idea why as all my levels are good.

Well all of my fish have turned white, and died..
I took the 2 clown loaches and 1 hi fin white skirt tetra that was barely living to my boyfriends house, and put them in his 10 gallon. hopefully they will be alright... his tank is doing fine, so hopefully they'll live and i can get them back soon.. I wanted to save more than this, but he couldnt come over last night, and thats when most of them died.. :-(

my fav fish also died..(MIDNYTE) brought tears to my eyes when i scooped him out, and even more when i watched him go down the toilet.. u never think you can get so attached to a fish, but i would sit for hours just watching them, and he always was so fun to watch, cuz he (about a 3 inch black lyretail molly) would always chase all the females and his top fin would go up and make him look 2 inches tall..

this is really sad for me, and i'm going to clean the whole tank, take all the water out, and thoroughly clean everything.. i'll let yall know tomorrow night if the 3 fish are still living..

I am very sorry to hear about your loss. It sucks :(

..........................................

The best thing to do going forward... assuming you cant afford an ro unit...
Test your water from your tap fully. Find out the perameters you have to work with and get fish that match that. It is very difficult to get water chemestry right, it is much easier to find fish that match your chemestry.

If you really want other fish I HIGHLY recomend getting an ro unit... the amount of money you have put into medicin and ph changing stuff would have payed for at least half the cost of the unit so far. It is an investment that goes a long way. Even some of the most difficult fish can be kept in ro (though they probably would need additives to get them to breed).
RO is nice because you get to drink it too :)

Once again I am sorry about your loss, GL in the future.
