Man.. its been like a good week now and this damn green and orange finned tiger barb or whatever is still attacking every single other fish i have.. it hasnt killed anyone yet, but its even kicking my bettas ass.. arent bettas supposed to be FIGHTING FISH? defend your damn self you crazy fish!

someone respond! thanks!

umm what do want us to say  isolate the barb or put him in another tank if you think he's posing danger, or give him back to ur lfs nad see if you can do an exchange

The barb is much faster than the betta. The quicker fish do the beating. Remove it and trade it at the LFS for a more docile fish.

tiger barb are not to good at the community thing if kept with small fish, and besides, they like to be kept with at least 6 of their own kind!

bettas are quite slow and graceful and only fight with males of the same species

Why don't you just give him to the lfs I'm almost positive they will take him. Don't flush him it isn't only his falt they like to be in schools not by themselves. Even though he drives you crazy he dosen't deserve to die. :sly:

whoever sold him to you should have told you first that the should be kept as a schooling fish in groups of 4 or more (preferably 6 or more) and secondly do not keep tiger barbs with long finned fish!!! Any reputable LFS would have told you that!!!

You should NOT have a barb in the same tank as a betta. Betta's (as you know) have long flowing fins...a perfect target for him to go after. You should not keep barbs with long finned fish period.

I don't see your fish list but from what I have been gathering from other posts it that you only have one Tiger Barb. Is that correct?

Tigers need to be in groups of at least five or six to be happy. This will also decrease the amount of aggression he is showing to the other tankmates. If your tank is too small to add any new companions then I would take him back.

Do not flush your fish...that is cruel. He doesn't know any better and was brought into this situation by you.

I know it's frustrating to watch your other fish being terrorized....but giving him to a lfs would be best for you and your fish.
I hope I wasn't being too harsh.
Good luck. :)

in groups of six? what kind of crack are you smoking?!

six tiger barbs is like all a 20 gallon tank should hold for god sakes.. you bet your ass im not buying six of them..

ill try and return the stupid fish, but i dont know where my receipt is.. i'll have a swing at the jerk that sold me him too

Some fish stores will take it off your hands without a receipt...just explain what happened to them. They will not give you a refund but at least you'll be rid of the problem.

So angry!!!!

You should have zero tiger barbs in a 20. Ruby Shark was pointing out that this fish needs to be kept in groups of 5 or 6. He also stated that if your tank is to small for more barbs, which it is, to take it back to the LFS. Most LFS will exchange fish so it shouldn't be a problem.

good, im returning it and never buying another
barbs are gay

good riddance, you stupid bully of a fish
