Hi, wonder if anyone can help, one of my 5 CoryDoras has a white mark in side thats got bigger and now so big its eating away at its side. Any ideas what it is and how to treat?
One of 5, all others are fine.
Had the mark about 4-5 weeks but started small.

I'm not sure what that is (other than a very large wound)/what caused it, but when in doubt, large water changes will typically not hurt. Hopefully someone will be able to ID what is going on. My only guess is it's a cut that is not healing and getting worse/infected. I'd be inclined to try water changes, aquarium salt, and increasing temp a bit. But as I said, maybe someone here can definitively ID it.

Be wary of salt with cories. Maybe if OP can set up a hospital tank and threat this separately.

Good catch. I've never had them so I did not know this! Learn something every day.

Honestly think this guy may need to be euthanized, but if you opt for treatment, a strong antibiotic is necessary. I think too severe for salt to do much, plus cories are salt sensitive.

But id also look into changing out your gravel for sand, its not good for cories, after all of this.

Plausible this was a scrape and has turned into a severe bacterial infection. Many bacteria do eat away at tissues.

You'll need to see a vet for an antibiotic in the UK, unfortunately :(
