Hello,

I've just added plants to my aquarium, and spotted a small snail on one a few hours after i put them in. I removed the plant as soon as i saw it (it's in a bucket now), but I'm scared there'll be snails on my other plants as well. What do I do?
Also, how do I make sure there are no eggs on the plant I just removed before i put it in again?

Thanks.

Snail thread pops every week plenty of info in the search mate.

In short dont over feed and you wont have a problem :good:

You will easily be able to spot the eggs as they are in a little jellied patch - just pick them off. Any new plants just need to be rinsed and rubbed gently under running water to remove any small snails. If you spot any in the tank just fish them out and squish them and drop them back in - fish love them! :good:

I had this problem as well about 4 months ago, buy 2 clown loachs, At first i really didnt want them but i bought them to get rid of my snails and within 2 days i had never seen nails and again, the loachs also look really nice in the tank

Tbh, you should never add fish to get rid of a snail problem, unless you want the fish and they're suitable for your tank.

Clown loach grow to a foot long and need to be kept in shoals of at least six, if they're to be happy, and most people just don't have tanks that can accommodate them (which would be a minimum of 5x2x2').

Sorry, if that sounds harsh, but the best interests of the fish should come first.

Anyway, as BBA said, if you're not overfeeding, snails shouldn't be a problem. If you really can't stand them, assassin snails would be a far better and more practical solution.

+1. Clown loaches are never a solution. They have special requirements and needs that go beyond the average fishkeeper.
