I noticed the first one about 3 weeks ago, i read up on the internet and it said that blck spot was considerably less severe than whitespot and it was worms that attached to the fish then dropped off and laid eggs in the gravel.

So since this time i've removed all the gravel, from the bottom taken all the water out, added liquisil because it was said that there is no medication for this, but liquisil may help.

i then left the tank with no gravel for 7 days, the fish were at first a little bemused that they could see they're reflection from all angles at first, but were okay.

I cleaned the bottom of the tank and all ornaments after the 7 days, and although the silver molly didnt lose her black spot she looked lots happier.

Okay so gradually over the last few days her black spots have been increasing, and usually her top half goes a greyish colour from time to time, she is still eating fine, but she is more shy now, and usually hides behind the rock, i will try and get some pictures to show this afternoon,

Any ideals on anything else i can do, i've chucked the old gravel away, and i thought going to this extreme would have eliminated the little critters

Oooops sorry forgot
Ammonia 0, Nitrite 0, Nitrate 10ppm

:D have you tried adding salt to the tank. aquarium salt or tonic salt, as mollies like this. You add 1 level teaspoon per gallon which will give a concentration of 0.1%

I would do that but i have two cories and neon tetras and was told they didnt like this at all, i have some course sea salt here and i was going to make shift a tank with the water change bucket and put salt gravel etc in there and then add the molly for a few hours - but i didnt know if it was safe.

Its says its natural evaporated from the mediterranean

what do you all think ?

well me book of fish health says....

"treatment is rairly necessary and is, in any case, difficalt, if not impossible"

my fist thought, is "OK, thanks for nothing book"
my second is "sorry I can't help more"
