Help! Plecos Keep Dying!

All my common plecs keep dying. Sometimes they die in a month. Or sometimes they die in 6 months. The last one that died I always fed him with half a wardley algae walfer and he seemed okay for 6 months with that. Then i went away for a day which was walfer day. When i came back the next morning he acted funny and didn't want to eat. Then the next morning I woke up and found him dead on the bottom. All my plecs die this way. Please tell me what i'm doing wrong.

I'm not buying any more until I know why they keep dying. Please tell me soon.

Could you please post your tank capacity (size), along with your current water paremeters?

We will need more info your situation first though ;

a. How many gallons is the tank your fish are in and how long has it been set up?
b. What is the total fish stocking of your tank including fish that have died in the last 2months?
c. Have you ever tested your water for ammonia, nitrites and nitrates?
d. Do you use dechlorinator and have you added anything else to the tank in the last 2months in the way of meds or chemicals or things like salt?
e. What is your average tank maintanence cleaning regime on average and how do you go about it?
f. What are the symptoms the plecs display before death(if any) and any other strange behavior they display?
