So i have had my male betta for a year that i got form wal mart and i decided to get a female the other day i put her in great but but now my male betta has white spots all over him and my female i read up and im figuring that it is ich but how should i go about treating it i have both of them together in a five gallon tank there site said a tablespoon of salt per gallon for ten days but any help would be apreciated. thank you :*) it also said you should let the net dry before using it again as so they die before re-using that could be bad because i have another tank and i use the same net but my fish in the fifteen gallon have no white spots. thank you for help.

Take her out right away!
They will kill each other if they are left in there together.
Male bettas should never be in with other bettas - male or female, under any circumstance except in breeding!

They're both extremely stressed out right now, so if you don't get her out pronto, you're going to end up with some very sick fish.

okay thank you i have an extra two gallon tank i can put her in can you help me along the lines of what i should use to treat them for the ich.

Super Ick Cure has been the fastest and most effective ich medicine I've used to date, and trust me, with the number of Walmart rescues I own, it's been used a lot!

I got mine at the local PetValu, and it was $6.99 for a 128mL bottle. A bit pricey but well worth it! You use a tablespoon for every 5 US gallons, I believe; it's all on the label anyway.

It had every case of ich I've ever had gone in 2 or 3 days. Just make sure you do the full recommended dose, otherwise the spots that have fallen into the gravel/sand/whatever can float around in the tank and come back.

Good luck, and I hope all is nice and fixed soon!

I have only had to treat for ick once, and I used Maracide. It worked very well, but I think in general most ick treatments work pretty well

good luck and keep us posted! :)

Personally I have had the best luck with Aquarisol in treating Ick.

Quick question...why did you put your female in with your male in the first place?

Thank you for all your help im off to my local walmart right now to go see what they for hopefully one of the three you recommended thank you for your help. :D
