hi everyone I need some help please!!!!!1 I have a 15 gallon tank with purple gravel and lots of silk plants. I have 4 fancy guppys (i think 1 is going to have babies) 2 opal groumies, a pearl groumie and 2 discos the discos are laying on the gravel and there gills are moving really fast. i think they might die. also i think theres something wrong with my guppys tales. they seem to be disappearing kind of can anyone help me?!?!!!

By disco's do you mean discus? If so, a 15 gal tank is way too small for them. You might be overloaded on your bio-load as well. How long has the tank been set up?

guppies fin and tail rot discus that is okayand normal unless they have gill diesease hobe you make alot of money with the discus

I'm confused now i knew I would get yeled at for posting this.

Check your water hardness. Hardness can tear fins and make them look ratty(happened to me). It wasnt till months later that I found we not only have hard water, but VERY hard water. Once i got a solution for it, the fins grew back on my fish.

Oh hun...Im sorry...I didn't yell...just thought that might be the problem with the discus. They do need a lot bigger tank then you have.

Again Im sorry if I came across as rude...

Tiff :*)

Hi Angela88

I believe the Discus are very sensitive and need pristine water conditions, as freshwatergal mentioned, with the bio-load on your tank (the amount of waste put out by your fish that the bacteria has to convert) that may be the problem. Another problem may be a lack of oxygen (just a guess from the gills moving really fast) you could try adding another air stone to create more surface movement which helps add oxygen to the water. For the Guppy tails dissapearing, do they look ragged? or are they turning white on the ends? The gouramis may be nipping at the tails if they look ragged.
