what size tank?
hello M.A.M, Its a 3 gallon tank and my lfs have 12" at the smallest  and my tank is 12" wide lol! so ill have to live without one,

thanks rsz but what kind should i get? :S thanks for the replies

well, most FISH don't need light, its plants that need the light. my mollies actually hate when i turn on the light on their tank. a 3 gal kind of limits you. theres a betta, or an adf, or 1 or 2 livebearers. there isn't enough room for a decent school so that rules out tetras of any kind, not enough room for cory cats (well, you might get away with three panda cories, since they only get to one inch long).

perhaps a trio of male fancy guppies, get the brightest, strongest coloured ones you can find! :)

Hi akhtar :)

I'm a little confused.......... Is this the same tank you are talking about in another thread? I'm referring to the one about the water getting cloudy. If so, do you already have some fish in the tank? Or is it a different tank? :dunno:

For a tank with no light, I'd like to suggest that you think about getting a couple of African Dwarf Frogs. I have two of them living in just one gallon of water and it is plenty for them. They are active and easy to take care of. I keep them in a gallon jar in a room that is fairly bright but gets no direct sunshine through the windows. At night the room is lit and that's all the light they get. It has no filter, etc., and doesn't need one. Every couple of weeks I clean it out just like you would do with a betta.

I know that some people keep these little frogs in the same tank as their betta, and you have room for one in your tank, too. If you are interested in a betta, why not post in the betta and gourami section and ask how well they would do in your low light tank?

There is a link in my signature that will take you to a thread where you can learn a lot about the little frogs. :D
