Hello

I have recently moved into a new house and have been looking forward to setting my new tank & cabinet up in my room. I have been told I can't put it in my room because of the weight.
I couldn't tell you the weight of the tank or volume of water it holds but the length is 52"x12"x12". It is a large tank with a steel frame and is on a large heavy cabinet. My floor is wooden with only a couple of wooden supports running the length of the room.
Is there any way of working around this? Please help, I'll be grateful of any advice!!!

Please try not to post the same exact thing in multiple forums.

Thanks.

a friend of ours had to get under the floor and provide extra support to the joists.. but if i were you i wouldn't risk it..!! if you imagine that each litre of water = 1kg, and then you have the weight of the tank, and the stand, then the gravel and the decorations.. that is A LOT of weight for the floor

That's a really odd size tank. Never heard of one like it before. It comes out to about 32 gallon which is around 267 lb. That plus the actual tank weight, stand, gravel, rocks, filters etc would probably put it at about 400 to 500 pounds. That's not a huge amount when it's dispersed over the 624 sq in base (52x12), less than 1lb psi. But it's always better to err on the safe side and not set something up that will fall through the floor. If you could shore it up from underneath, it would definitely help.
